Thoughts
This story offered a different kind
of perspective from Simon. I wouldn’t say all too serious, he still has that
funny quality in him that everyone can’t get enough of, but I guess a more
mature Simon? He is practically on the verge of finding his true purpose in life.
Well in this case, why he wants to be a shadowhunter.
It’s naïve to even think that when
he ascends he’ll instantly remember the old Simon, but he was right in saying
to Isabelle that by then he’d already had made new memories from training in
the Shadowhunter Academy. As Simon’s new found friend, George, points out, they
all want to be a hero. In this series we will witness them in their journey to
become one.
Although Isabelle believes with all
her heart that old Simon will be back, I find that difficult to see. I think
all the memories will come back but not the old Simon. Not the Simon that
Isabelle and I fell inlove with, but a different Simon, and I can’t wait to see
that Simon. I am all for a new Simon. I will love Simon either way. I loved him
when he was a vampire, a daylighter, and when he becomes a shadowhunter, I will
still love him no less. (deranged fangirl mode on)
I’m glad that a George was written
to be Simon’s friend, plus he’s perfect! They’re perfect for each other, they
know what makes each other crack up.
He’s already popular in the Academy,
will he be like the champion of the dregs after standing up to those
shadowhunter brats? That would make a nice story but we all know too well how
common a plot line that is, but Cassandra Clare… so everything’s bound to be
awesome in the end!
